A Virtual Tour of The Kentucky Center for African American Heritage
and Update on the Project

(Louisville, Ky.) – The African American Heritage Foundation will host a series of community public forums for donors and citizens to preview a virtual tour of the Center.  The computer designed tour will provide the first look at the Center’s exhibit gallery and a first look at the proposed children’s gallery “NYUMBA”.

The first forum is scheduled for Thursday, February 8th at 6:00p.m.  The event will be held at the Louisville Urban League, 1535 W. Broadway.  There is no charge and the public is invited to attend.

Foundation representatives will provide an overview of the project and update the audience on new developments regarding funding and construction delays.  Construction on the Center was halted in December, 2005.  The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet recently agreed to pay approximately $1.75 million owed to contractors that will have to be repaid by the Foundation.  Bank loan financing approval was announced in December, by US Bancorp officials pending the organization’s success in raising approximately $5.0 million.

The Kentucky Center for African American Heritage is located in the Trolley Barn complex at 433 South 18th , at 18th and Muhammad Ali Blvd.  The Museum will showcase the great achievements of Kentucky African Americans.
