Rotunda
Stepping into the exhibition area, visitors are immediately surrounded by the Center's message. The Rotunda willing engross visitors in a multi-sensory collage of audio, images and text which summarize the messages and spirit of the exhibition.
Stories and people, not objects are the foundation of this museum and the stories begin here. The recurring metaphor of “One more river to cross” is introduced here as well, as visitors acknowledge the geographical importance of the Ohio River, and symbolically cross a river as they embark on their exhibition experience.
The view upon exiting the Rotunda includes the expansive Great Hall, and ever-changing hub of programming, performance and functional activity.
