African American History Month Author Series Presents Danielle McGuire

On Thursday, February 23, the Center welcomes Danielle McGuire an assistant professor at Wayne State University and author of At the Dark End of Street. McGuire's book won the 2011 Lillian Smith Book Award as well as the Organization of American Historians' 2011 Frederick Jackson Turner Award. This book sheds light on the oft-overlooked beginning of the Civil Rights movement. McGuire will discuss her book at length with attendees at the Center.
